ABSTRACT
Parenting styles are one of
the vital factors that can improve behavioral problems of the Maguindanaon
pupils. This study investigated the
parenting styles and its influence to the behavioral problems of pupils.
Descriptive-correlative
type of research design was utilized in this study. It involved fifty five (55)
randomly selected Grade VI pupils in Dimatingkal-Kamid Elementary School in
Maitum, Sarangani Province during the school year 2014-2015. Adapted
questionnaire was used as instrument for collecting the data. Frequency count,
weighted mean and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient were used to
treat the gathered data.
The findings of the investigation
indicated that parents sometimes practice different parenting styles and pupils
sometimes encountered behavioral problems. Moreover, there is no significant
relationship between parenting styles and aggressive behaviors of pupils. This study concluded that the parenting styles do not influence the behavioral problems encountered by
the pupils. Hence, this
study recommended that the teachers should create more interesting
activities for the pupils to socialize with other children and classmates.
